Brookie Recipe

Brookies, a delightful combination of brownies and chocolate chip cookies, are rich, fudgy, and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making these delicious treats.

Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (113g)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (100g)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder (35g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (65g)
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (113g)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (160g)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Baking Pan:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or foil for easy removal.
2. Make the Brownie Layer:
  • In a medium bowl, melt the butter and stir in the cocoa powder until well combined.
  • Whisk in both sugars and salt until smooth.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • Gently fold in the flour and mix until just combined, then add the chocolate chips. Spread this brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together the room temperature butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Mix in the baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4. Assemble the Brookies:
  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer. It’s okay if some brownie batter is visible; it will create a beautiful marbled effect when baked.

5. Bake:

  • Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
6. Cool and Serve:
  • Allow the brookies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares. For an extra treat, serve warm with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with chocolate sauce.

Tips for Perfect Brookies

  • Ensure that your butter is at room temperature for the cookie layer to achieve a fluffy texture.
  • Do not overmix any of the batters to maintain a tender texture.
  • You can customize your brookies by adding nuts or different types of chocolate chips.

Enjoy your homemade brookies! They are sure to be a hit with family and friends.
